MISSION

          To provide Aerodrome services and ground communications to Sangley Air Station,15 th SW, PAF

FUNCTIONS

Provide Air traffic control within Sangley Airspace.
Provide Aerodrome information’s and weather services.
Provide ground support facilities for aircraft crash & rescue operations
Monitor the outgoing/incoming flight activities of 15 th SW,PAF
Supervises the loading & unloading of passengers at Sangley Air Station
Operates & maintain ground communication & radio facilities.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

 

          The unit was formerly designated as 596 th Base Operation Squadron (Prov) PAF stationed at Sangley Point, Cavite City, was activated on 16 August 1988 as provisional Squadron under 15th SW, PAF pursuant to G) # 223, HAPF, AFP dtd 23 Sep 88. Prior to its activation, 592 nd Air Base Squadron and 23rd (now 463 rd) Avionics Armament Communication and Maintenance Squadron performed the mission and function of the unit. 596th Base Operations Squadron (Prov) was re-designated as 596 th Aerodrome Operations Squadron effective 15 November 1988 pursuant to GO # 278 HPAF, AFP. Weather Section was detached from 596 th AOS and re-assigned to 900th AFWG effective 01 February 1989 pursuant to SO # 17, HPAF dtd 31 January 1989.
