The 23rd AAMS was reactivated on 23 July 1987 pur to Section I GO#70, H15SW dated 10 Aug 87, and it was renamed 23rd AAMS pur to SO#108, H15SW dated 18 Aug 1988, relieving all personnel and reassigned them to 596 AOS which was newly activated unit. 23rd AAMS was re designated to 463RD AAMS effective 16 June 1992 pur to GO#307, HPAF dated 01 Jul 92 and place under the command and control of the 460th MSG.

The Officers and men of the 463RD Avionics Armaments Maintenance Squadron never fail to deliver innovations and projects of ingenuity to help the command in providing avionics and armaments hardware needed to fulfill its mission. Because we believe that there are still a lot of things to be done, so many projects to make and a bunch of equipment to be modified to further enhance the operating capabilities of our aircraft.

Being a unit of mission oriented and highly motivated people propels the squadron to strive hard to come up with new ideas that would improve the fighting, communication and navigational capabilities of our air assets. A host of remarkable achievements that either directly or indirectly contributed to the accomplishment of the unit’s primary mission has projected more its capacity to perform efficiently and effectively its job and to do other things that helped promote national growth and pursue higher objectives.

loading up an MG-520    With a pool of well-trained and highly motivated individuals, the unit has supported the over-all maintenance requirements of the Wing with an accomplishment of 33 scheduled and 86 unscheduled maintenance in the avionics and armament systems for the OV-10A/C, MG-520, and SF-260 TP aircraft. It was able to produce 17 line items in its com/nav shop and 251 line items in its armaments shop under its self-reliance program. This has generated savings of Php 3,946,378.00 an amount that would have been spent on the commercial repair or procurement of components that occasionally break down in the aircraft’s avionics and armament systems.

While the 463rd AAMS sets out an aggressive effort to contribute significantly in furthering the Wing’s mission, it also channels its resources to also advance the broader concerns of the Air Force and the Armed Forces as well.

The Mini Forest, Gardens, Fishpond and Fowl Raising of 463rd AAMS are a clear manifestation that the squadron is an active partner of the Clean and Green and Ecological Balance Campaign of the Wing.

Avionics work for a SF-260Likewise, the Thunders are also well known in the field of sports, capturing athletic and sport’s recognition during Sports competition conducted during the period in review.
