UNIT HISTORY
This unit then known as 22ND Supply Squadron was activated on 11 Nov 1974 pursuant to GO nr 185,HPAF dtd 14 Nov 1974 as a provisional unit of 15th Strike Wing stationed at Sangley AirBase, Cavite City. It was re-designated to 462nd Supply Squadron effective 16 June 1992 pursuant to GO nr 307,HPAF dtd 01 July 1992 and was placed under direct control and supervision of 460th Maintenance and Supply Group.
Changes in the organization
To form the present 460th MSG, the erstwhile 22nd Supply Squadron, 23rd Avionics and Maintenance Squadron, 21st Field and Maintenance Squadron were re-designated to 462nd Supply Squadron , 463rd Avionics and Armaments Maintenance Squadron, and 461st Field and Maintenance Squadron respectively pursuant to GO nr 307 HPAF dtd 01 July 1992. The association of these units paved the way for the grouping of the old and decentralized tactical support units thus making them a more cohesive and more organized team of maintenance and logistic support personnel.
Changes in the personnel strength over time
In 1977, the 240th Composite Wing Motorpool was just one of the numerous branches of the then 22ND Supply Squadron. During that time, an average of eighty personnel (80) manned the unit. However, when the 24th Motor Vehicle Squadron was activated, the unit’s average strength was reduced to sixty (60) personnel and as years passed, various reorganization brought down the units average strength to thirty five (35)personnel
