Brief History

The 460 th Maintenance and Supply Group was activated on 16 June 1992 pursuant to General Order number 307, HPAF under the command and control of the 15 th Strike Wing.

Eleven years ago, forerunner to the 460 th Maintenance and Supply Group was the Office of the Chief of Maintenance under which is the 21 st Field Maintenance Squadron, 22 nd Supply Squadron, 23 rd Avionics and Armaments Maintenance Squadron. The 15 th Strike Wing which was activated on the 26 November 1973 has an initial of six (6) T-34 Mentors and six (6) AT-28 A/D Trojans aircraft. The Wing then up to the present is in constant acceptance of other type of aircraft. In the 70’s The Wing added in its arsenal a squadron of Albatross Aircraft, and several Piston Type SF260 Marchettis, In the 80’s, eighteen (18) Sikorsky Helicopters Gunship, and in the early 90’s Twenty Four (24) MG520 Helicopter Gunship and Twenty Four (24) OV-10A aircraft were seen soaring the horizon of the 15 th Strike Wing. And most recently PAF decided to boost up the Wing firepower through the transfer of newly modified combat ready SF260 TP aircraft.

Through the folds of time, the 460 th Maintenance Supply Group serve as a tactical support group of the 15 th Strike Wing. Its men readily adapted different technology changes brought by the rise and fade of the 15 th Strike Wing aircraft. Our men, through all those years, were seen giving unselfish service and support to the mission of the Wing. These are the men in the home front providing support to the first force of the Philippine Air Force.

The three Squadrons of the Office of the Chief of Maintenance then was renamed as 461 st Field Maintenance Squadron, 462 nd Supply Squadron, and 463 rd Avionics and Armaments Squadron and placed under the command of the Group Commander, 460 th Maintenance and Supply Group.
